“Loca is first and foremost a fun pop song,” says RAYNE. “We took a lot of inspiration from Latin pop music and combined it with the catchy, feel-good vibe often found in K-pop. It’s a laid-back, sexy, feel-good song, and that’s exactly what it was meant to be.”
RAYNE explains that “Loca” was inspired by the irrational and intense feelings of a crush. “When I wrote Loca, I was inspired by the art of a crush. Why does it happen? What possesses a person to be so infatuated with another that they’d be willing to change any and every facet of their personality? It’s insanity. It’s Loca.”
The song captures the repetitive and cyclical nature of crushes through its constant bassline and whistle sample. Despite its light-hearted production, “Loca” is layered with meaning and social commentary, making it a quintessential RAYNE classic.
RAYNE’s journey began with a love for music and theatre. From playing ‘Danny’ in his pre-school performance of “Grease” to performing sold-out shows at the Parkview Barnyard Theatre, RAYNE has always been passionate about his craft. He has shared stages with South African music icons and performed internationally, including tours in Mauritius and Zambia.
After leaving The Barnyard Theatre in January 2023 to pursue his solo career full-time, RAYNE has continued to thrive, winning numerous awards and entertaining audiences worldwide.
