Following her features on Smile FM, Cape Talk, and various radio stations across South Africa and abroad, Chané is unveiling her second lead single, “New,” from her debut album. This elegant, poetic melody joins her captivating single “JORDAN,” and promises to be a track not to miss.
Chané, renowned for her authentic and soulful music, has collaborated with esteemed mastering engineers and producers, including Randy Merrill from Sterling Sound. Merrill is known for his work with Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Ariana Grande. The talented Helmut Meijer produced “New,” ensuring a finely crafted song that will distance listeners from life’s worries.
Reflecting on the song, Chané shares, “While it is about the change of seasons…every season having an ending, it is also about the beginning of a new chapter.” She adds, “It allowed me to feel the hope of change in a time when little else was moving in my life. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. It was a beautiful journey of completing a song I could relate to.”
The allure of “New” lies in Chané’s soaring vocals—rich, soulful, at times vulnerable, and laden with meaning and purpose. Her voice, coupled with the song’s honest, soulful, and authentic nature, brings a message of hope in the inevitable changes God brings with each chapter of life.
Chané is a South African musician, singer, songwriter, and artist born in Cape Town, Western Cape. She has been writing songs since the age of nine but began her professional music career in 2019. Besides songwriting and recording, Chané enjoys painting and drawing as a freelance artist, helps with praise and worship initiatives at various churches locally and abroad, and performs live at events, restaurants, weddings, and markets.
Although born in Cape Town, Chané grew up in East London and Worcester, frequently traveling with missionary and ministry programs. Raised in a Christian home by pastor parents, she is currently pursuing a degree in Ministry. Her musical talent was discovered early, and she has accumulated several music qualifications, including a grade 7 certificate in Classical Guitar from Trinity College.
In January 2021, Chané released her first official radio single, “Speak,” produced by StoneBear & Mayor Records and mastered by Randy Merrill at Sterling Sound in New York. This captivating single set the stage for her rising career, leading to her EP “Who Am I,” which became an international sensation, reaching over 50 stations worldwide, including in the Netherlands, Italy, England, Mexico, Namibia, Brazil, and the United States.
Chané’s ability to connect with her audience is well-documented, making her music relatable and giving her soulful, authentic vocal power a worldwide audience. She draws inspiration from artists like Lauren Daigle, Kari Jobe, and Leon Bridges, as well as her relationship with God and personal testimonies. “Music is truly the universal language, and when applied with the truth it can set you free,” she believes.
If not a musician, Chané would have loved to be a freelance artist living under the mountains and stars. “I find a lot of peace in art and nature, so I always had this romantic fantasy of living in a little run-down cottage painting my days away by candlelight,” she explains.
Chané believes that music speaks where words fail and aims to reach as many people as possible through her songs. She also aspires to pioneer a new sound in the music industry, continuing to share her incredible gift with the world.
